In 1996 Bath and North East Somerset was formed as a result of local government reorganisation, which split the County of Avon region in to four Authority areas. These four areas are now known as South Gloucestershire, North Somerset, Bath & North East Somerset, and the City of Bristol.
Bath and North East Somerset is placed South East of Bristol, City of, and has a population of almost 170,000.
