In 1996 Bristol, City of, was formed as a result of local government reorganisation, which split the County of Avon region in to four Authority areas. These four areas are now known as South Gloucestershire, North Somerset, Bath & North East Somerset, and the City of Bristol.
Bristol, City of, is placed central of the former County of Avon and has a population of over 380,000.
